A pair of black and white gift boxes to print and make

a pair of black and white gift boxes to make

Click the images below to print the boxes, print on card stock, cut out, score folds, fold, glue!

Joy Coloring Page

Joy coloring page example

Today's Joy coloring page is an experiment. It's a fairly simple design, but I wanted to see how something like this would look in positive and negative images and to see what you would think of it. Do you like coloring pages with a lot of black in them for a darker look?

Click the images below to print and color larger versions of this coloring page!

Printable Peace Symbol Optical Effect

Peace symbol optical effect

It took a while to get it set up so I could do these types of optical effects in a 300 ppi printable. I'll bet this would look just nifty printed on Astrobrights paper!

The effect uses diagonal lines in opposite directions to create a maze like geometric look which has to be seen just right to see the word or image. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Click the image below for a large version to print and the smaller version above is on my FB page so you can share it!

Shamrock Stained Glass Printable Box- with a blank version to color!

Shamrock with Bram Stoker quote

I'm trying to increase the shares on my Facebook page, and decided to do it by adding quotes to some of the thumbnails for printables. The quote above was from Irish author Bram Stoker.
Here's the full quote from Dracula-
Nothing is too small. I counsel you, put down in record even your doubts and surmises. Hereafter it may be of interest to you to see how true you guess. We learn from failure, not from success!
-Bram Stoker

This knotwork shamrock box is available in both faux stained glass full color ready to print and make and a black and white version that you can color yourself. Click images for larger version, print on card stock, cut out, score folds, fold, glue!

Blank version:

A Straight Line printable quote

A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting.
-The Doctor

I asked The Amazing Turnip Girl before putting in the quote "Should I put that it was the 3rd Doctor who said it, the author or just attribute The Doctor?" She replied "It's all the same Doctor." So there it is. But there is more information after the clickable and printable image! The version above is on my FB page if you want to share it.

The quote is from the first episode of the 11th season, written by Robert Holmes. That was also the very first Sarah Jane episode, and the first appearance of the Sontarans. So it was a very nifty episode in the history of Doctor Who, plus, that's just a really great quote. I hope you like my illustrated version.
If you're interested in seeing it, you can order the DVD from Amazon below. This is an affiliate link and using my affiliate links to buy things from Amazon helps support my site and my book addiction.
Thank you.

Snowknot gift box to print and make

This month I got two different kinds of flu! One from my daughter, one from my husband. It's been a fun month. So there hasn't been much in the way of arts, crafts or cooking. Mostly just watching Red Dwarf, Doc Martin and reading books on my kindle with the font size made huge so it wouldn't give me a headache.

So that's why there hasn't been much for the holidays. I hope you enjoy this gift box! There is a black and white version for people like Libby to color, and a colored version to put together for last minute gifts.

Click on the images for larger versions, print on card stock, cut out, score folds, fold and glue!

Printable quote- You're all beautiful

You're all geniuses- John Lennon quote
You're all geniuses and you're all beautiful. You don't need anybody to tell you who you are or what you are. -John Lennon
I hope you all enjoy this quote as much as I do. It will print to 8x10 inches, and because it's black and white it looks fantastic on colored paper. I do these using Astrobrights paper.

Wear the old coat printable reading quote

Wear the old coat and buy the new book quote

"Wear the old coat and buy the new book" -Austin Phelps
The image above is shareable on FB from my page. (which recently hit over 900 fans WOOT!)

The image below is printable. Click on the image for a larger version and print it! As usual, I recommend Astrobrights paper. Mostly because it's what I use for all my black and white quotes and it's so cheerful and pretty.

My husband will tell you that much to his annoyance, that's exactly what I do. I have sweaters that are darned in mismatched colors and sometimes look very much like a tatterdemalion in my long skirts, old sweaters and worn out shoes. But given 100 dollars and a choice of things, I'd rather have a half dozen books than a few new shirts. It's where the choice between crafty items and books comes up that it gets hard. My old coat is still warm.

I also posted some brick stitch bead patterns on BellaOnline Beadwork for St. Patrick's Day.

Printable Quote about reading

Reading quote by Malcolm X
"I could spend the rest of my life reading, just satisfying my curiosity — because you can hardly mention anything I’m not curious about."
Malcolm X
I hope you like this printable quote. I like printing black and white quotes on Astrobrights paper because they look so bright and pretty. This one was printed on Rocket Red and is hanging on my living room wall now. The above version can be shared on Facebook from the Shala's Beadwork and Printables page.

Printable Kindness Quote

Whereever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness.
Unicumque homo est, ibi beneficio locus est. -Seneca
(Whereever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness.)
I hope you enjoy today's printable quote. It's one of my favorites. The striped background was inspired by all the stripes that are showing up in fashion lately, but done in a graphic style.

Another one in black and white. Last week I won a Twitter giveaway from Astrobrights. Since I love Astrobrights for printing copies of black and white quotes for myself, it's very exciting!

Click the image for the larger printable version. The small version above is available on FB to share from either Shala's Beadwork and Printables or from Don't Eat the Paste Quotes.

I have markers!

Years ago, I found a white and black patterned fabric that was incredibly busy. I loved it and bought a yard which became a purse that got used until it fell apart. Part of the fun of it was coloring it in with permanent markers while waiting for an appointment or at restaurants.

I still love the idea of it, and that purse inspired the design above which is available on Spoonflower here. The markers are Sharpie brush tips. Love them so much for fabric coloring because you can vary the angle you hold the pen at to do larger sections, then use the tip for the finer sections.

The tip isn't quite fine enough for a lot of my more involved coloring pages, but for the fabric designs they are perfect!

If you'd like to color the design, but don't want to buy the fabric, here's a coloring page. Click, print, color!

Here's a picture of another one of my fabric designs. A tiled design of a skull with a chef hat available in several colors here.

Tom's of Maine puts Good First- With a printable quote!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tom's of Maine for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Tom's of Maine is a company that really does put Good First. They strive to be an ethical company with a strong focus on sustainability. Now with Tom’s of Maine Good First application on Facebook , they are looking for people to open a dialogue with their friends on Facebook about the ways they can make a the world a better place.
What did you put first today that made you feel especially good?
You are given a choice of 5 things, helping people, helping animals, caring for the planet, healthy eating or healthy living. After you choose, you get a badge to share on Facebook.
Helping People Good First Badge
Helping people is so important to me, and when you collect your badge, you'll see how your friends match up to you. I wasn't at all surprised to see that people I respect and like very much did match up on that goal! Some of them are perosnal heroes. They are always there with a kind word, or heartfelt encouragement. They help people in other ways, with charity and kindness.
My regular readers frequently inspire me too. Checking my email and finding emails from people who've made things for various non-profits groups, who spend their time working on causes they believe in. Those emails make my day.
When you look for opportunities to help other people, it doesn't have to be something big. It can be holding a door open for someone, a smile, a kind word. It takes just a little bit of time to possibly smooth someone's path for a bit.
You can also share your ideas, and see other ideas with Tom's of Maine on Twitter and Tom's of Maine on Pinterest.
Click on the image below to get a large version without the URL on it to print. You can print it on white paper and color it in, or on colored paper.

Printable Quote-Kindness

Quaker Quote about Kindness
I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.

If a quote on this site is one I found on the net on one of the quote sites, I try to research it, to get the exact phrasing and to make sure the attribution is correct. This one, which is just fantastic, caused some difficulty. It's frequently attributed to William Penn, but at times it's also attributed with some authority to another lesser known Quaker named Stephen Grellet. One of the first known publications of this quote was without attribution in 1859. It's also been attributed to Gandhi and  Emerson. It is an old word of wisdom, that probably dates back to Quakers in the late 18th or early 19th century in America.

Regardless of where it came from, it's a wonderful ideal to strive for in life. The Facebook shareable version is available on Don't Eat the Paste Quotes.

Click on the image for the large version, and print in landscape mode. It's sized at 8x10 inches.
