Printable paper gemstone rounds

Printable gemstones for costumes or decorations- with a file for hand cutting and PNG files to use with the Cricut Explore!

I love magnets, especially the ones that are made by members of my family. These are super easy, but you don't have to use the paper gemstones for magnets. They can also be used as decorations on cards, glued on to bobby pins that have a glue pad, or turned into jewelry for part of a Halloween costume.

So for people who like to print and cut, you'll click below for the larger image, print out this page on card stock and cut out.
Printable gemstones

Now in a minute, I'm going to tell you how I did them. but the finishing methods for both versions are the same. 2 layers of cardstock are pretty stiff which is why they work as magnets and accessories. If you use any kind of ink that might smudge- spray the color printed disks with a clear sealing spray. After that dries, use Mod Podge to adhere a blank disk to the back of a colored disk. Mod Podge over the top, and let dry. Mod Podge on the bottom and let dry. Now you can choose if you're going to use Dimensional Magic. I did, and I like the look but the finish did crack on a couple. Let that dry for 24 hours, and use a strong glue to attach it to what ever you're using them on! (Small round ceramic disk magnets on mine!)

So what did I do different? Print and cut with the Cricut Explore. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE this thing? The new update allows you to print using your home printer and then cut out your image. So all of my disks were perfectly cut and so were the blank backs. So when you update, and go into Design Space, you'll calibrate and watch videos that show you how to use the new update.

The new update works with PNG files!! So here are those files for you to use (and you have my permission to use them in other Cricut projects)- click on them to download and save the transparent PNGs

So I went to edit, and put them all at 1.5 inches in size- this is what my print preview looked like after getting them laid out. It shows the bleed of my outside color so if the alignment is even a little off, it still looks great.

Then after I printed and cut that, I flattened all the images, and switched them to cut and cut them from another sheet of card stock.

Yes, it does work with more detailed cuts. I'll show that later this week!

Batman is 75!

Bat signal box and Funko Pop Nightwing

Batman's 75th Anniversary Celebration is underway, and DC is partnering with comic book stores around the country to celebrate. So The Amazing Turnip Girl asked me "Aren't you going to do anything on your blog for Batman?"

Check your local comic book store to see if it's participating. My local comic book shop, Bosco's will have cake, masks and discounts on Batman merchandise and books.

See, I'm a Dick Grayson fangirl, from when he was Robin in the elf booties on Superfriends, to Nightwing in the 80s with the silly wing costume and the popped collar, to 90s long haired bad boy Nightwing, the red costume and Grayson. Without Batman there would be no Robin, and so no Dick Grayson.

So I put together this quick printable treat box as a tribute to Batman. I hope you enjoy it.

Click the image below for a larger version to print on card stock, follow the instructions on the printable to make it.

Eagle gift box

Bald Eagle- photo taken in Anchorage, Alaska

So a couple of months ago, I wanted to go get photos of eagles. It took us a little while to find them, but the one I used for this printable box posed for me. I wound up using the photo on a blanket for my dad from one of those photo printing places. He's been enjoying it. I hope you like this printable box as well.

The photo was taken with my Fujifilm HS50EXR. I've had a few bridge cameras, and this is my favorite one. I'm going to be trying out a new one this week though so we will see if it stays my favorite! (affiliate link)

Cute Strawberries printable gift box

Strawberries taste like sunshine- sweet, sweet sunshine!

I'm gardening Shala lately. Watching my perennials like strawberries getting flowers that will soon be delicious strawberries, picking around the edges of lettuce to add to dinner, and watching my sugar snap peas grow like crazy.

Summer is great! And nothing tastes like summer quite as much as a fresh picked, perfectly ripe strawberry!

I hope you enjoy this little printable gift box. Print on card stock, cut out, score folds, fold, glue!

Printables Peas box

It has been a really busy week. Since it's all stuff I want to be doing, it's been fun too.
Here's a printable peas box- click on the image for the larger version, print on card stock, cut out, score folds, fold and glue! It might make a nice way to package a small gift for a gardening friend.

I'm currently working on animating a mandala video, the idea being that if it's on youtube, some people might find all the mandalas here that way! However, animating it it is taking a while. So far I have 13 seconds of animation which is about 153 frames. I'm planning to loop some of the frames, but it's still a very slow process.

Also the weather here has been glorious for Anchorage in April. So wonderful it threw my planting schedule right out the window. So I've been working in the yard and being eaten alive by mosquitoes. On the really good side, my strawberries which were late to make an appearance last year are popping up all over the yard. TATG and I opened the last jar of raspberry jam from last year and have been enjoying it. We also pruned my raspberries, said hi to the rhubarb which is starting to pop up and unfurl it's leaves, and started planting all the annuals. Like my sugar snap peas, which are doing twice as much as last year.

For everyone in a place that's seeing bad weather, my thoughts are with you. Stay safe, and I hope your loved ones are alright too.

Bright Creme Egg Box

Printable box set for Cadbury Creme Eggs

My family looks forward to the weeks approaching Easter because I wind up buying candy especially for these boxes. Then they get to eat them after the photo is taken!

This box is my Cadbury Creme set, it will hold 4 eggs. I do recommend gluing the bottom tab as well as the side tabs because of the weight of the eggs.

Click on the images for larger versions, print 2 pages of the egg boxes, and one of the base. Cut out, score folds, fold and glue!

You can buy the blank template to decorate yourself at my Etsy store.

Stained Glass Rose Box

Stained Glass Rose art

Since people liked the mandala with the roses and forget-me-nots, I thought it would be nice to do a box using the same rose. Even though the spiral would be horrible to try to cut out of glass- I thought it looked good using a stained glass effect. I hope you enjoy it.

Snowknot gift box to print and make

This month I got two different kinds of flu! One from my daughter, one from my husband. It's been a fun month. So there hasn't been much in the way of arts, crafts or cooking. Mostly just watching Red Dwarf, Doc Martin and reading books on my kindle with the font size made huge so it wouldn't give me a headache.

So that's why there hasn't been much for the holidays. I hope you enjoy this gift box! There is a black and white version for people like Libby to color, and a colored version to put together for last minute gifts.

Yesterday my family and I went to the zoo, and got to see a polar bear cub that is on it's way to another zoo today. It was a lot of fun, and I'll be posting photos later.
