New fabric posted at Spoonflower! I haven't gotten photographs yet, but it looks nice. I added orange to my Chef Skull series, and added 2 knot styles in a whole bunch of colors. 

Inspired by a Western Shirt Mandala

This geometric mandala to color was inspired by a shirt I picked up recently at a thrift store. Click on the image above for the small JPG version.

Knotwork Coloring Page

Knot to color and embroider

This new two strand knot was a lot of fun to draw. Usually, I say "Feel free to use this for embroidery, pryrography or other craft purposes" but this time there is one especially for outline stitch embroidery as well as the coloring page. Click on the images for larger versions. The coloring page is transparent PNG, the embroidery page is gif format. The embroidery page is 2 colors, which makes the 2 strands of the knot easier to see.

New graph up at Beadwork at BellaOnline, and it comes with this example pattern, which is a set of lover's knots around a trinity knot.

Hamsa Coloring Page and Embroidery Patterns

I've been meaning to do some hamsas for embroidery and coloring ever since researching them for hamsa bead pattterns on BellaOnline, I just keep forgetting. They have a fascinating history, and you can read more about them here.
Click the images for larger versions. The page with several hands is for embroidery and other craft purposes, and includes some blank hands in different sizes to fill in however you wish. I did the coloring page both with and without an eye.

Pink Ribbon Hope Box

I used the cookie box for this because it will fit a lot of the ribbon patterns that I posted on BellaOnline. You can find my beadwork ribbon patterns here.

Here's the little hope seamless fill I made, feel free to use it on your own projects.

Rose boxes

Boxes to match the rulers I posted yesterday. Click on the images for the full sized versions. Handy for paper clips and other little odds and ends! Print on card stock, cut, score, fold, glue together. 

Eggs and Bacon Boxes

The idea of fried egg swiss dots with bacon rickrack makes me smile. I'm thinking of designing some fabric to print on Spoonflower to make an apron with toast patch pockets!

I hope you enjoy these boxes. I used the 2x2x2 template and the 3x3x1 template for this mini-set. 300 dpi, click on the images to get the full sized version. Print on card stock, cut, score, fold, glue. Should I make a matching recipe card set?

Today, while my husband is at work, I'm going to make up some teriyaki sauce for him to use when he grills dinner tonight. He's planning on some sort of seafood. I'm not sure yet if that's going to be shrimp, salmon or halibut. It will be Alaskan wild caught whatever it is.

I added a new bracelet pattern for sale in my Etsy shop for my limited edition patterns. I like keeping my prices fairly low, so an average blank template in my shop is 1.60 and commercial use okay. My pattern collections are around 3-4 dollars each for several patterns. Because people keep telling me that underprice my work badly, I decided to do some limited edition patterns, the patterns are 3 dollars each, I'll sell 10 each then permanently retire the patterns. Making them up for sale is fine. The limited edition patterns all say that they are are limited edition, and there are 3 so far, all bracelets, Ninja Beader, Cherry Pie (inspired by the Warrant song) and the one below, inspired by Alice Cooper. "Your skin/so wet/black lace/on sweat"

FriendShip Cookie Box

I realized that I hadn't posted a cookie box in a while. This one matches the tags you can find here. 100 ppi, click on the image for the full sized version.

Pixel Beading

I just posted an article on pixel beading using cube beads. I didn't really have room in the article for all the patterns that I made, so here is the full set if you'd like it.
Based off of these mood icons.

Beaded ornament and matching paper box

You can find instructions for the ornament here. The paper version is something I made up to make it easier to understand how the ornament goes together, but it would also make a good favor box I think. To make it, print out the template on paper or card stock, and glue the blank tab inside the other side of the box. Then tape down the tabs to close it. I lined up the lines so that it will all line up right if you tape them on the outside. I used paper for the version above and didn't score or fold the lines.

The blank version is for you to decorate, I think it would be great filled with candy as a place card!

Crochet Pattern- Scrubbie II

I was asked for a scrubbie by a member of my family who will go unnamed because he's an adult man who doesn't want the world knowing he wanted a soft cotton bath pouf.

He also didn't care about colors because nobody is going to know he has a soft cotton scrubbie except for his family, so I used yarn I got at a garage sale. I got a big bunch of cotton yarns at this sale for 5 dollars and I'm using it on things where color isn't important. (which also explains why the next pattern I'm posting is out of this same yarn)

So.. all that said- gauge isn't important for this project. I used Peaches and Creme Spring Meadows colorway, on a cone for this. You can probably make one with one ball, but buy 2 just in case. My next project is a great yarn burner for bits of cotton yarn.

ch= Chain stitch

sc= single crochet

dc= double crochet

sl st= slip stitch

tr= treble crochet

Scrubbie II
Size G hook, cotton worsted weight yarn, American terminology
Ch 40, sl st to join (makes hanging loop)
ch 6- sl st at join from ch 40

Round 1: ch 6 (counts as first sc and ch 5), sc in ring,*ch 5, sc in ring*, repeat ** 8 more times, ch 2, treble in first chain of round to join (12 loops)

Now it starts increasing by a lot.
Round 2: ch 6 (counts as first sc and ch 5), sc in same loop, ch 5, sc in same loop,*ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 5, sc in same loop, ch 5, sc in same loop*, repeat ** around, when you get to the last ch 5 to join the round, ch 2, tr in first chain of round to join.
Round 3-4: Repeat round 2, on the last ch 5 space of the last round, ch 5, sl st to join.
You can add a 5th round if you want it even bigger and fluffier
Break off and weave in ends.

Tessellations and Butterflies

I posted a tutorial for designing tessellating bead patterns on Beadwork at BellaOnline today.

Lady Helen posted a picture of how she decorated her bathroom using my butterfly outlines in black Contact paper. I love how striking it looks.

Awareness Ribbons

Everyone in my family wears a red ribbon. Mike and the teens wear the stick on kinds and have them on all the jackets they wear with any regularity. It's the only accessory type thing Mike wears on a regular basis. No bracelets, necklaces, rings or pins. Just that awareness ribbon on the jackets he wears. Mike and I have friends with AIDS and we've both lost friends to it.
I wear lots of jackets or no jacket at all and decided to bead myself one that I could move from jacket to jacket or pin on my purse.

I'm not saying it's the only cause we support, but it's the one we wear ribbons for. I know other people wear other colors of ribbons. This is the pattern for the ribbon. Make it in the color you want, and if you want to make them for sale to raise money for your cause, by all means do. I did mine in brick stitch.

Since I knew I wanted to post this pattern, I also made up some boxes that you can package items you sell to raise money/awareness. There are so many ribbon colors to choose from, I chose red for AIDS awareness, yellow for the troops and pink for breast cancer. There is also a greyscale box that you can re-color in a graphics program. If you don't know how to do that and really want a specific color, just let me know.
