Stick Figure Saturday: Bee Yourself

 

Welcome to the second Stick Figure Saturday! This series came out of the idea that sometimes simple is very good and gives a lot of room to practice shading, doodling or different materials. 

This week's design to print and color was inspired by the way my family forages and how much we love the bees in our garden.

Knot rose to print and color

Oh I hope you enjoy this. Drawing knots is one of my favorite things to do. This knotted rose was a lot of fun to draw and I hope you have as much fun coloring it. Click the images below for large versions to print and color.

Printable Valentine Rose Box

I hope you enjoy these printable rose and heart gift boxes! One of them is all colored and ready to go, the other one is blank and ready to color.

Stained Glass Rose Box

Since people liked the mandala with the roses and forget-me-nots, I thought it would be nice to do a box using the same rose. Even though the spiral would be horrible to try to cut out of glass- I thought it looked good using a stained glass effect. I hope you enjoy it.

Rose at Night Stained Glass Effect Printable Box

My friend Rosemary is particularly fond of my stained glass effects.
Which I don't do very often. If you're really fond of stained glass effect printables too, I hope you enjoy this one. There will be a coloring page later based on this design, but right now I'm going for a walk with my daughter!

Rose and Pearls Mandala

Roses are the birth flower for June and pearls are the birthstone. Today I thought "Wouldn't it be fun to do a mandala for each month that could also be used as an embroidery pattern?" Too bad I didn't think of it in January!  The rose is based in part off of heraldic roses.
I colored it blue because blue is an unnatural color for roses, and has come to mean "Mystery or impossible things" and because blue roses are referred to in Metal Gear Solid 4 and my daughter loves the Metal Gear games. So much so that people were randomly yelling "SNAKE!" in my dreams at one point.

Rose Coloring Page

Haven't done roses in a while. This one, I visualized as being something that could be colored in with Zentangle type fills, or used as a leather tooling pattern. I hope you enjoy it. Use it however you would like.

A few years ago, my son made his grandpa a leather mystery braid bracelet. It was brown, with a centered Celtic concho and then mystery braid on either side of the concho. Dad wore that bracelet until it fell off this weekend. He called me to say his bracelet had broken and he would really like a replacement. That it was one of his favorite bracelets and people complimented it all the time. So off to Tandy Leather we went. After looking over their supplies, we decided to check my leather stash before buying more leather. So for the time being, we picked up some basic veg tan leather blank bracelets and Turnip Girl and William picked out conchos for themselves, for their grandpa and for their dad, and picked out leather dye. Turnip Girl decided she wanted to learn how to tool leather. So Michael will be teaching her. He hasn't tooled leather in *ages* but this could be just the thing to get him started again and hey! New barrettes! I need new stick barrettes which make great practice pieces. They picked an eagle head for their grandpa, and for Michael, they picked a Texas star concho because it looks like a police badge and he used to be in law enforcement. For Dad's bracelet, they chose mahogany dye, for their own, they picked a lovely shade of blue.

I'm currently cross stitching a police box. When it's done I'll post it and the pattern.

I had a different rose design in mind. But this is what wound up actually happening. I do hope you like it!

Favor Boxes

The rose was taken today, the eagle a couple days ago. If you click on the images, you'll get the full sized version. You have my permission to use the image for scrapbooking and other non-commercial uses.

Rose stationery page?

I actually drew this to use a dry erase board on my front door. One of my birthday presents was a new thermal laminator.
I'm starting a new site just for reviews. For the time being I'll still be posting some reviews in both places and I'm still in the process of getting all my craft reviews up on the other site. It's MyCraftReview.com and there is a review of the laminator there.

I printed it out and ran it through my laminator in a glossy pouch. Then I put magnet tape on the back (my exterior door is metal) and when I find them, I'll use hook and loop tape to attach a dry erase marker to it. I think the sheet would also work well for stationery, and I'll be using the rose/thorn design on a box later today. Any preferences on which box template I put it on? Leave your choice in comments!

This is the laminator I used. It will do up 9 inches across documents and it's as affordable as the little card sized laminator I've been using to make jewelry and bookmarks with for years. This will work for the same sorts of things and do larger things like dry erase boards! Yay! (Thank you again R!)

To everyone who wished me a happy birthday, thank you. It was lovely. I spent the day with my family, my husband grilled chicken, pineapple, zucchini,mushrooms and asparagus. The chicken and pineapple with my homemade teriyaki sauce. It was just amazing. We had so much fun. Oh! And my uncle loved the cakes I made for him this year, they were an absolute hit with him.
