Making a fun LEGO minifigure holiday card

LEGO has this fun part of their site called LEGO Minifigure Family where you can create minifigure versions of you and your family to use as a holiday card.

It's really easy to use. You get to add people and pets one by one, and customize them. Starting by picking out skin tone, then faces- which includes several expressions and some of them have glasses. Next step is hair or hat style. After that, click on torso to pick a shirt, then legs to pick pants. Or if you want play a bit- you can randomize the outfit.
It was a lot of fun picking the outfits, faces etc that best reflect my family. My husband does wear sweater vests, our daughter does wear suits. I'm kind of a hippie so the finge and tie dye work out well for me. My dad dresses plainly, but likes to wear caps and does have a full face of hair. It was so easy to pick the outfits for each one.
It's all very easy to use and after your done you have the option of sharing the finished image, or downloading it.
Minifigures are so nifty, and creating your family in minifigures makes for a memorable, fun greeting. Go try it out!

Chocolate Squares Printable Slide Box

I hope you enjoy this printable slide box! The box will fit 3 Ghirardelli squares and this one is decorated to look like a present. I like these both as table decorations and as stocking stuffers.

A Very Sunny Christmas Box

One of my readers wrote me recently lamenting the fact that so many Christmas things were snowy, cold, frozen scenes. She lives in Australia and has never seen a snowy Christmas in her life. Of course, here in Alaska, Christmas means cold, dark, snow, ice and icicles everywhere. So I never even thought about the fact the seasons are switched down south.

So I asked some of my friends who live in Australia, and they told me all about having cold prawns for dinner, going swimming with friends and family or going to the beach. About having cold cuts and lollies and unless it's unseasonably cold- never ever considering heating up the kitchen for a turkey dinner.

Personally- I think cold prawns are ALWAYS a good idea, so they will be part of our Christmas dinner this year.

Anyway, for her, and for anyone else enjoying a sunny Christmas, I hope you enjoy this printable box.

About the box-
It snowed. October broke all kinds of heat records for Alaska, then all the sudden, with very little warning, temps dropped and it's all white, snowy and frosty outside. Santa Claus Printable Boxes

It's July, which means it's time for a Christmas in July printable. This one is for a Santa box that's 3x3x1 inch. Click on the images for a bigger version, print on card stock, cut out, score folds, fold, and glue.

When I was a little girl, one of my mom's biggest pet peeves around the holidays was trying to find dolls with darker skin and dark hair and eyes. I've never forgotten her determination that I would never have only blonde haired, blue eyed dolls. Because Native American dolls were always pretty stereotyped, the end result was a collection of gorgeous, handmade dolls in a rainbow of skin tones. I haven't done every skin tone possible on this set, and if you want something specific, just email me or leave a comment to let me know. Santa, no matter what the origins of his story are, should be a universal symbol for people who celebrate Christmas.

Red, White and Blue Popcorn Box

It's been a while since I've done a 2 page box, but this popcorn box seemed like a good idea. You'll need to print out both pages at "fit to page" or 8x10 inches. The finished box is 6 inches tall, 4 inches wide, and 2 inches deep. It will hold just over 3 cups of popcorn! The spots on the image above aren't on the box you'll print. They are buttery fingerprints.

If you're wondering why the version in my photo has that nice vintage, soft color and the versions above don't, it's because I printed it on Astroparche card stock in Natural. Astroparche is affordable, and adds a nice effect to a lot of printables.
