Girly Speech Bubbles to print

These speech bubbles were inspired by small ones that were in the book Microcrafts: Tiny Treasures to Make and Share which I reviewed earlier. To make smaller and therefore cuter bubbles, print them at 50% instead of fit to page.  To make a cupcake topper with it, tape a toothpick or skewer to the tags after cutting them out. As you can see, I left a smooth margin instead of trying to cut all the scallops. The black and white versions are transparent PNGs and can be used for digiscrapping (digital scrapbooking) as well. Cupcake design for screen printing or coloring

I liked that cupcake design so much that I went ahead and did the art and separations to turn it into a screen print. So the art does have registration marks. If you'd like to just color it, feel free to remove my registration marks from the corners. If you'd like to screen print it, please don't sell the finished product without my permission. Baked With Love labels for gifts

Like the ones yesterday, the single versions can be used in your word process software. The whole sheets can be printed out and cut apart for tying to gifts or taping/gluing to your home baked presents. I colored these with an offset screen print look because I really like that effect and don't use it nearly often enough. Black and white versions to color, chalk, etc yourself or to have a child do it for something they baked as a gift. Click on the images for larger versions.

Book Review- Zombie Cupcakes

Zombie Cupcakes : From the Grave to the Table with 16 Cupcake Corpses by Zilly Rosen. The title just makes you think "disturbingly cute idea" does it?
My daughter and I were both enthused over this cookbook. 16 cupcakes with decorating instructions to make them fit for a horror themed party, Halloween or just grossing out her dad.
So first, the decoration. Instructions are given for all the little disgusting details, which include rats, crows and eyeballs. The instructions are clear enough that even if you aren't a master sculptor you should be able to make all the projects. Some may need a little practice like artery detail on the eyeballs. The author uses some clever techniques and simple tools for a lot of the effects. The decorations use purchased, ready to use ingredients along with food coloring. Amounts are specified.
The recipes are fantastic. Because if people can get past the "EEEW!" factor, you want the cupcake to be the reward right? It starts with 4 frosting recipes, and lots of cupcake recipes, all made from scratch.Gingerbread, pumpkin, chocolate, devil's food, vanilla, there is a cupcake recipe for every occasion. All well explained and easy to bake.
As far as kids go, my teenage daughter thinks this is the coolest cupcake book ever. I have a bunch of cupcake books but the gore combined with the recipes appeals to her. My husband picked it up and glanced through it, then set it down quickly and said "I didn't want to see that." I asked "What?" and he shuddered and said "The eyeballs."
I promised not to try and feed him those, but didn't say a word about The Crows cupcake with it's fine detail of shiny raspberry jam "blood" under fondant "skin".
Recommended absolutely if you're a fan of zombies, cupcakes or have teens who love the gore. Great way to inspire kids to cook.

Cupcake Box- 4th of July printable

Another printable cupcake box. If you haven't seen these put together yet, check out my first one here.
The inserts are the same for both boxes, and print two to a page. To make two boxes, you print out one page of the inserts and 2 each of the top and bottom pieces. Click on the images for the full sized version.

Pink and Gold Cupcake box

For an example of an assembled cupcake box, the first one I posted is here.

This box takes 3 sheets of cardstock to assemble and will fit one standard size cupcake.

I chose the colors because Rosemary suggested pink and gold for an earring pattern I'm working on.

Cupcake box

I finally made a box template that will fit a standard size cupcake. Figuring out how to get a cupcake in it without getting icing on your fingers is your challenge. I realized a bit too late that I really should have used tongs or something to get it in the box and you can see stray bits of icing on the box.
This will take 3 sheets of card stock to print.I'm sorry for that, it can't be helped. A standard size cupcake needs a 3 inch box at least, and the insert wouldn't fit with the box parts. I did put two inserts on on page though so if you print 2 piece ones, 2 piece 2, and 1 insert, you've got enough for 2 boxes.
What you'll do is print, score, cut as usual, piece 2 has the bottom square, and piece 1 has the top square. Glue the tab on the edge of piece 1 to piece 2 so the bottom square goes the opposite direction of the top square,then complete the box by gluing the side tab of piece 2 to the edge on piece one. Tuck the bottom flaps and the bottom square in, glue it if you want a little more security. Score and cut the insert, then poke a hole in the middle with your scissors and cut out that inner circle. That's where the cupcake will rest. Put the insert in the box, and then the cupcake. Close box.
Design with the help of my daughter who loves polka dots and pinstripes and anything rainbow colored.

I spent most of today writing reviews on Amazon, but I wanted to get a box posted. E and I talked about ideas, and she thinks I should draw a combination of the evil duck and good bunny that are sort of family jokes. She said "A Dunny!", unfortunately, without context, that means very little. So we talked a bit more, and I decided while I was deciding, to draw a cupcake. So here's a little cupcake decorated box.
