Deep Waves printable gift boxes

Sometimes it's easy to title things, other times, not so much. But I was thinking quiet sea thoughts while working on this, so there it is- deep waves. I hope you enjoy this. Knotted Heart Printable Box- 5 colors

Yesterday was one of those days worked quite how I wanted after drawing a knot for a friend (I'll post that in a few days as a coloring page). Today it came together the right way. New template! Fancy Pinstripes 5 colors

I made a new template! However, the photo leaves something to be desired. Still getting used to my new camera.
For it's debut, I decided to make matches for the 2x2x2 Fancy Pinstripes set. 5 colors, the base is 2 inches, the top is 3 inches and it's an inch deep with overlapping semi-circles to close. The photo above shows it with 2 mini cupcake wrappers set in the diagonal and candies in those (recipe to follow)

Cream cheese mints are really popular, but TG is pretty convinced chocolate improves almost any dessert. Here's the recipe:
Chocolate cream cheese mints

• 8oz cream cheese softened
• 1 Tbs butter softened
• 1 tsp. mint extract
• 1 tsp. vanilla extract
• 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 lb bag of powdered sugar

Prepare 3 cookie sheets by covering them with waxed paper or parchment paper- this is a no-cook recipe so either will work.
With an electric beater, cream together the cream cheese, butter, extracts and cocoa powder, then start adding the powdered sugar a cup at a time for 6 cups. After that, a half cup at a time. You'll need nearly the whole bag or if it's a humid there as it is here, the whole bag. After you can't use the beater anymore, knead in the rest by hand.

Make small balls and flatten them on the waxed paper, they can be close as long as they don't touch. After you get done with a sheet, cross hatch the candies with the tines of a fork.
Let air dry for 8 hours, flipping them over every 2 hours.

These *can* be frozen after they've dried then thawed as needed. I took a small part of the dough and kneaded in some sea salt and topped with Cypress flake salt. Those are my favorites. I think if we skipped the mint and used almond instead with the salt, chocolate and vanilla, it would be amazing.

Hearts bull's eye pattern boxes in 5 colors!

I really need to either get ink or switch out printers so I can do some more heart clasp top boxes and print examples. Since that hasn't been done yet, these are simple 2x2x2 cube boxes in 5 different colors with a bull's eye effect heart pattern. I hope you enjoy them! Click on the images for larger versions.

Book Review- Knit Your Own Royal Wedding

If you haven't been invited to the wedding of the decade (and I know it's only 2011, but it's still probably going to be the wedding of the decade), you can knit your own version of it.
Knit Your Own Royal Wedding by Fiona Goble is a collection of patterns based on dolls that are easy to knit with knit clothes. The introduction explains a bit about the wedding of Kate and William, then a short section explaining what supplies you'll need to knit the wedding. Needle sizes are in both UK and US so you can be sure of getting the right gauge, accessories are made from beads, sequins, ribbon, wire and tiny buttons. There is  an overview of how to knit that's clearly diagrammed if you are a complete beginner to knitting and instructions for sewing together the dolls and clothes.
The basic pattern for the dolls is easy enough for a novice knitter to make, and quick to stitch for someone with some experience. If you are a complete beginner, you should be able to finish at least William and Kate by 29 April 2011, a more experienced knitter will be able to do quite a bit more.
The cute! Seriously, I can't get over the cute. Prince Harry, Prince Phillip, Prince Charles and of course, Prince William all in their dress uniforms. The Archbishop in his vestments with embroidered details, Camilla with her handbag and little ribbon rose brooch, the Queen with her pearls, and of course Catherine, the bride, with a little rhinestone engagement ring and a wire tiara. All the tiny details just make this set of dolls irresistible. Even if you aren't a royal watcher, you may want the patterns just to make dolls for yourself. Each doll pattern has an explanation of who it is, and in the case of the uniforms, why they are wearing that uniform.
The cutest thing in the whole book though is the corgis. I admit I'm biased. The little dogs are just wonderful.
After you've learned the basics for making the dolls, at the end is a chapter of alternate clothing, so you can fill out your wedding with guests, maybe even making a mini you to attend the wedding. There is also a pull out in a pocket in the back of the book to make a paper balcony to pose your wedding party on.

I love the little dolls, they are charming. My 15 yo daughter also likes this book and the patterns in it quite a bit.
