Daisy mandala with blank version to color #coloringpages #mandalas
I finally finished my next coloring book, and wow.. I hope you like it. It's available for pre-order now on Amazon. Whimsical Mandalas - it was a lot of fun to draw!

So after finishing, I took a couple days just to unwind then spent today drawing this mandala for all of you to color and to say "I'm back! Didja miss me?"

April Birthstone and Flower Mandala

April Mandala- Daisy and Diamonds

Happy Birthday to everyone born in April! I'm sorry this is so late.

April's birth month flower is the Daisy! Specifically the common lawn or field daisy which generally have 34 petals which is a Fibonacci number. Daisies are one of the flowers that really follow Fibonacci sequences, up here it's mostly Shasta daisies which have 21 petals. 1-1-2-3-5-8-13-21-34...

Paired with this common flower is one of the most coveted gemstones. April's birthstone is diamond. If it seems boring to just leave the stones white, remember that white light has all the colors in it, and diamonds refract that light reflecting off the surfaces.

Flower photos

Just a quick post to share some flower photos I took in June. All of these are size at 5x5 inches, 300 dpi, and you have my permission to use the photos in non-commercial projects. Click on the images to see them full sized. I'm really wild about how well the spiral in the button center of the daisy shows!

Art Nouveau box

The most recent fabric contest on Spoonflower is Art Nouveau style working with a pre-determined palette of colors. My entry is one I worked on with my daughter and she named it "DaisyShell" because the tiled effect reminds her of shells. You can see the other entries here and vote for your favorite if you have a Spoonflower account.
I liked the design we came up with enough to draw this box using the same elements The Turnip and I used in the fabric design. Click on the image for the full sized version. Isn't that palette great? I love palette based contests because they inspire me to work in colors I normally wouldn't.

Flower Circle Tags

Right click and choose save target as the PDF file HERE, which has 4 of each design, the wild roses, forget-me-nots and daisies. They are 300 dpi and print out beautifully.
I used a 2 inch circle punch to cut them out. First I cut the 3 strips of tags so the edges were close enough to fit in my punch, then turned my punch over to get the design centered, there is some bleed so you've got a bit of leeway.
You can either use double sided tape to stick them to things, or you can use a regular sized hole punch to punch a hole in them tie them to things.
I've already got some ideas for Halloween tags, but that's still a bit off!

The earrings in the picture- I posted a similar pattern to the alien pair with a tutorial on beading in brick stitch here. You can buy the cherry pie and chocolate covered strawberry patterns in my Etsy shop here for 5.00 USD, and the pattern set includes the 2 pairs shown, chocolate chip cookies, ice cream cones, and lollipops.
